Cape Town Backpackers is a long established and highly respected hostel located on Long Street, Cape Town, known for attracting international travellers, backpackers, digital nomads and adventure seekers from around the world. Over years of hosting global travellers, the team identified a natural opportunity to launch a dedicated tours and experiences offering, giving guests easy access to Cape Town’s best adventures, excursions and local experiences. To support this expansion, Cape Town Backpackers needed more than just a new website, they needed a clear, conversion focused user experience that could position their tours as trustworthy, exciting, and easy to book, while aligning seamlessly with their existing brand reputation. That’s where Bright Kru Media came in.

For this project, we were brought in specifically to handle UI/UX design for the new Cape Town Backpackers Tours concept. Our focus was on designing an experience that would work for both first time visitors discovering the tours online and current hostel guests browsing experiences on mobile while already in Cape Town.
Mapping out user journeys for different traveller types - from backpackers planning ahead, to last minute bookers already staying at the hostel.
Designing a clean, modern, travel inspired interface that reflects Cape Town Backpackers’ relaxed, social and adventurous brand.
Structuring the site so users can easily browse tours by category (adventure, day trips, social experiences), duration, or interest.
Clear CTAs, simplified tour pages, and intuitive booking prompts designed to reduce friction and increase enquiries or bookings.
Designing with mobile usage at the forefront, knowing most backpackers browse and book experiences on their phones.
The final UI/UX designs provide a strong foundation for development, ensuring the tours platform is intuitive, scalable, and built around real traveller behaviour.
In the travel and tours industry, experience starts before the trip begins. Travellers want clarity, trust, and inspiration - fast. Poor UX can quickly lead to drop offs, confusion, or missed bookings, especially when users are comparing multiple tour providers.
For Cape Town Backpackers Tours, the new UI/UX design delivers several key benefits:
The UI/UX designs created by Bright Kru Media give Cape Town Backpackers a clear, user led blueprint for launching and growing their tours business. The designs balance adventure, usability and commercial intent, ensuring the platform not only looks good but actively supports bookings and revenue growth.
By focusing purely on user experience and interface design, we helped lay the groundwork for a tours platform that aligns with how modern travellers actually browse, decide, and book - setting Cape Town Backpackers Tours up for long-term success in a highly competitive travel market.
